Our Experience
As we stated before, Il Forno was our third Specialty Restaurant we visited during our stay at Iberostar Selection Bavaro. We arrived at the restaurant, which is located right on the beach, right before 6:30pm. We were immediately greeted by the hostess and seated. There were plenty of open tables during our dinner, so I don’t think getting a table will be too big of an issue.
Our waiter greeted us and offered us some water and wine and presented us the menu, which can also be found below. This menu had plenty to offer from pizza to pasta and risotto to steak, chicken, and seafood. It was so hard to pick what we wanted from all of the options!
Appetizers
Both Leah and I went with the Insalata Caesar (Caesar Salad), and we split the Bruschetta.
I will say that the Ceasar Salad was good, but the Table-Side Ceasar at Brave was even better.
Entrees
We had such a hard time picking what we wanted, just based on how many options we had to pick from.
For the first round of Entrees, Leah went with the Mushroom and Truffle Risotto. She said it was delicious. It is not the best risotto we’ve ever had (hard to compare to Hell’s Kitchen), but it was a solid Entree.
I ordered the Meat Lover’s Pizza. When I ordered it, I wasn’t thinking they’d be bringing me a whole pizza, but they did! I have to admit, I ate over half of it. It was really good. I would say that it was better than the pizza at the beach lunch buffet, but not quite as good as the pizza at the evening buffets by the front lobby.
Entrees Round #2
Did we need another round of Entrees? No. But we couldn’t pass up trying some of the other items on the menu.
Leah ordered the Flat Iron Steak with Truffle Fries. She said that it was decent, but that the fries from Brave beat out the fries at Il Forno.
For Round #2, I ordered the Parmesan Crusted Chicken with Pasta. The Chicken was good and would have been better off without the pasta and sauce. If I was rating this plate strictly on the chicken, it would probably get an 8/10.
Dessert
At this point in our meal, we were so uncomfortably full that we didn’t need dessert, but when I saw Tiramisu on the menu, I couldn’t pass that up. They brough be a nice serving of it and I ate about half of it before I had to stop. It was a great way to end the meal, but I unfortunately forgot to get a picture of it.
Final Thoughts
Once again, another Specialty Restaurant at Iberostar Selection Bavaro exceeded our expectations. Maybe it was some of the negative reviews that we had seen online about the food at this resort that had us worried, but we left another restaurant satisfied.
As you know, when we are foodies, and we love a good meal. We are happy to say that Il Forno was another great meal. From the service to the food Iberostar does a great job with this dining experience and we’d recommend adding it to your list of evening dining stops at least once; just don’t over-stuff yourselves like we did.
