Our Experience
Upon check-in at our stay at Iberostar Selection Bavaro, we spoke to our concierge about booking a reservation at Kabuki Japanese Restaurant. He informed us that we could get a reservation any night of our stay at 6:30pm or 9:30pm. We decided to book on the second night of our stay at 6:30pm.
We arrived at Kabuki right around 6:30pm and were immediately seated. There were 15 other people at our table, which situated around 2 teppanyaki grills. We were offered water and wine, which we both said yes too. I took the red wine, while Leah got the white. Both were very good.
First up, the Sushi Variety Plate. Both Leah and I recently found that we really enjoy sushi, as long as it doesn’t have any raw fish in it. Well, this was our chance to try it. We tried all of the sushi rolls, including the one with raw tuna, and they were all great!
Next up, the Thai Salad and Gyozas. The Gyozas (fried dumpling with cabbage and pork) was absolutely amazing! Wish we would have had more than just one.
Our waiter then brought out the Ramen Mushi. This was also tasty and a nice way to move the meal along.
During these first courses of the meal, a chef was preparing fried rice on the teppanyaki grill in front of us. He went around the table and threw pieces of cooked egg at each guest seeing if they could catch it in their mouths. He definitely made it entertaining, and a fun-filled meal for all.
After the chef made up the fried rice, he fired up the veggies, chicken, steak, and shrimp. All were delicious and full of flavor.
Last up, was a sampler plate with the desserts. They were good, but in our opinion, this was our least favorite part of the meal.
The service throughout this whole meal was wonderful. All throughout the meal, our waiter was making sure that our wine and water glasses were always full. The chef was very entertaining and interacted with all of the guests at the table.
All-in-all, this is a must visit in our eyes. If you are staying at Iberostar Selection Bavaro be sure to find a way to get a reservation booked. The food, the service, and the interaction with the chef and guests was an unforgettable way to enjoy a dinner service.
