Oasis of the Seas Day #3 | CocoCay Evacuation!

It’s time to visit one of our favorite ports – CocoCay, Bahamas!  Our last visit was in February 2020, and it has become one of our favorite ports! In our eyes, this is a must stop when planning a Caribbean Cruise.

Unfortunately, our excursion – Up, Up, and Away, was canceled due to high winds, but we were still looking forward to the day ahead!

BREAKFAST

Today, we were all up and ready to get moving, so we decided to head down to Johnny Rockets again.  I got the B.E.L.T. Sandwich, Leah ordered the Veggie Scrambler, Maddie ordered some Scrambled Eggs and Bacon, and Kenzie and Amelia got the French Toast and Bacon.  Another solid, delicious meal!

MORNING PLANS

We knew that we wanted to spend as much time as possible on the island, so after breakfast, we made our way down to get off the ship.  When we got off the ship around 9:00am, it was pretty windy, and still pretty chilly.

We made our way to a kiddie area that offered some slides and pools.  The trees and landscaping around this area provided a much-needed wind block.  Leah and I enjoyed a Non-Alcoholic Coco Loco while the kids enjoyed the water.

Next up was the Oasis Lagoon.  This is the largest fresh-water pool in the Caribbean, and this thing is huge!  The water in the pool was a bit chilly, though on a hot day, I’m sure it would feel rather refreshing.  It was still pretty windy, but the sun started to peak out!!

LUNCH

When it was closer to lunch time, we knew it was a no-brainer, and we had to visit the one and only Snack Shack!!  You cannot beat the Shack Chicken Sandwich with the Mozzarella Sticks on top.  My mouth is still watering just thinking about this.  We pretty much ordered one of everything on the menu, except for the salads.  We all enjoyed the Chicken Sandwich, Shack Burger, Mozzarella Sticks, Fries, Funnel Cake, and Caramel Brownie.

AFTERNOON PLANS

After lunch, we grabbed a few chairs on South Beach.  Amelia was enjoying the sand and Leah and the girls were having a little fun in the water.

After a while, Kenzie was getting cold, and wanted to head back to the ship and go to Adventure Ocean.  I decided to take her back to the ship and the winds on the pier walking back to the ship were so intense!  By the time we got back to the ship, I quickly learned that they were evacuating CocoCay because they were worried the waves would start to go over the pier.

I dropped Kenzie off at Adventure Ocean and watched the evacuation from our balcony.  Thankfully Leah, Maddie, and Amelia, and everyone else made it back to the ship safely!

Once everyone was back to the room, we cleaned up and dropped Maddie and Amelia off at Adventure Ocean.  Leah and I decided to enjoy a mini bar crawl.  Our first stop was the Schooner Bar.  I really enjoyed the Toasted Marshmallow Old Fashioned and Leah enjoyed a Red Sangria.  Our next drink was the Drink of the Day – Island Punch.  This one was delicious as well.

After our drinks at the Schooner Bar, we decided to head down one deck to the Royal Promenade and head to Boleros.

I took a detour and snuck up to the Boardwalk Dog House for a quick afternoon snack, a chicken and apple brat.  Had to get at least one of these in before the week was over!

Once we finally settled at Boleros, we ordered the Tropical Crush.  We’ve heard about this one in other blogs and had to give it a try ourselves.  They were just as good as what we had heard.

After that, we make a quick stop out on Deck 5 to the aft of the ship.  Due to the intensity of the winds, they had the very back blocked off.  You should have seen the waves crashing up over the pier!  We have never seen anything like it!

It was getting close to dinner, so we ran up to get the kids from Adventure Ocean before heading back down to the Main Dining Room for our 5:00pm dining time.

Tonight apparel – White Night.

DINNER

The theme for tonight’s menu was Mexican Night.  The food was SO good, and this might be our favorite night for food in the MDR so far.  Ariza also had another balloon animal for the girls.  They are in heaven!

During our meal, we had some evening entertainment with the rough seas out our window.  We even had some waves crashing into our dining room window!  Never seen the ocean like this!

After diner, we were still docked in CocoCay.  We were scheduled to leave at 5:00pm, but with how strong the winds were, we were unable to leave the dock.

EVENING PLANS

Aqua 80 was unfortunately canceled for tonight due to the weather, so we did a little shopping on the Promenade.

We made a quick stop at the Bionic Bar and enjoyed a drink.  Yes, it is a robot that makes your drinks!  The kids really enjoyed watching it.

We decided to call it a night and as of 10:00pm, we were still stuck on the dock.
