Oasis of the Seas Day #5 | Labadee, Haiti

It is time to take a visit to Labadee, Haiti, another one of Royal’s private islands!  Our last visit to Labadee was in 2019, so we were excited to be back – and guess what?!  We woke up and the sun was shining!  We did not have any excursion booked for today, but we were looking forward to having a nice beach day.

I was up first, so I went down to Deck 5 to watch us dock in Labadee.  Man, this island is beautiful!  After we were docked, I decided to head over to the Vitality Cafe to give one of their fresh squeezed juices a try.  Decided to go with the Oasis Juice, which is fresh squeezed apples, grapes, and lemons.  It was a solid choice and very tasty!  Next up was a stop at the Cafe Promenade for a latte for Leah and me before heading back to the room to get everyone up and moving.

BREAKFAST

For breakfast today, we decided to give the Windjammer Buffet a try.  We regretted our choice, the minute we walked into the buffet.  We should have known that it would be extremely busy this time of the morning, but we made our way through the crowd, dished up some food, and found a table to sit at.  The food was decent, but the crowds were a bit overwhelming.

MORNING PLANS

After breakfast, we made our way down to the gangway and onto the pier in Labadee.  We were greeted with a band playing island music.  As we were walking the path to the beach, we were in awe at how beautiful the landscaping and scenery was!  We decided to make Adrenaline Beach our first stop.  There were plenty of chairs to pick from, so we grabbed a few and made ourselves comfortable.  Amelia enjoyed playing in the sand while Leah, Maddie, and Kenzie went for on a seashell hunt.  I enjoyed relaxing in the chair and soaking up some sun!  While I was laying in the sun, a wagon wheeled past that was selling Labadoozies, which is Labadee’s signature drink.  The wagon must be new since our last visit, but what a nice addition!  We enjoyed round #1 of the Labadoozie before packing up and finding a spot to grab a bite to eat for lunch.

LUNCH

Labadee offers two buffet areas for lunch.  At the buffet, we grabbed some burgers, hot dogs, fruit, and pasta salad.  The buffet is nowhere near as nice as the one at CocoCay, nor does it have as many options to choose from, but the food was decent, and it would hold us over until we got back onboard.  During lunch, we enjoyed some entertainment from some island dancers.

AFTERNOON ACTIVITIES

After lunch, Leah, Maddie, and Kenzie wanted to check out The Market, which is a shopping area on the island, for some souvenirs.  I remember our last experience at The Market, and several vendors were rather pushy, so I opted to skip it and take Amelia to the Splash Pad area.  On our way, we grabbed round #2 of the Labadoozie.

Leah, Maddie, and Kenzie didn’t have any luck at The Market, so they met up with Amelia and me and we made the short walk over to Nellie’s Beach.  Leah, Maddie, and Kenie rented 2 beach mats, while Amelia and I enjoyed some rest in the shade, and you guessed it, round #3 of the Labadoozie.  Amelia was in love with these!

It was getting close to 3:00pm, so we decided to head back to the ship.  We boarded and decided to head to Sorrento’s for some pizza and then to Cafe Promenade for a coffee.  The specialty pizza that Sorrento’s had today was so good!  I wish I remembered what the name of it was, but it had a white sauce with tomatoes, cheese, and basil.  The best piece I’ve had so far!

After our snack, we went back to the room to get ready for dinner.  Tonight’s theme was Caribbean Night!

DINNER

We arrived to the MDR and were welcomed by the Main Dining Room staff.  Tonight, they were all dressed in Caribbean themed shirts.  Ariza had an octopus balloon for all of the girls this evening.

For starters tonight, Leah went with the Bao Tacos (x2) and I went with the Bao Tacos and the Coconut Shrimp.  Maddie and Amelia went with the fruit, and Kenzie stuck with her Ceaser Salad.

Next up for entrees, Leah and I ordered the Jerk Seasoned Pork Chop.  Maddie went with the Grilled Cheese, Kenzie ordered the NY Strip, and Amelia ordered the Mac and Cheese.

During dinner, the staff entertained us with the Macarena.  The staff in the MDR this cruise has really been outstanding!

EVENING PLANS

After dinner, we decided to head to the Aqua Theater to see if we could get into Aqua80.  We did not have reservations for tonight’s show, but we thought we would try the stand-by line.  We stood in line for about 30 minutes, with little hope that we would get in, but we were in luck!  The seating was pretty full by the time we were let in, but Maddie and Kenzie took a front row seat in the Splash Zone.  I sat a few rows behind them, and Leah and Amelia sat a few rows behind me.  This show was absolutely unbelievable!  By the end of the show, Maddie and Kenzie were soaked, but they didn’t mind.  The Aqua Shows on the Oasis Class ships have always wowed us and been our favorite, but this show was something else!  All of the 80’s music playing while we enjoyed a show full of diving, synchronized swimming, and dancing.   It was so good!  It is a must see if you are on the Oasis of the Seas.

After the show, we stopped at the Merry Go Round and let the kids enjoy a few rides on it.

We then decided to head down to Sorrento’s to grab a late-night snack before Leah took Kenzie and Amelia back to bed.

Steven and Maddie enjoyed a quick round of mini-golf and then enjoyed listening to a few tunes at the Caribbean Party on the Promenade.

We’d have to say this has been the best day of the cruise so far! A beautiful port with great beaches and sunshine, and great food and entertainment this evening on the ship.  This is what cruising is all about!

Tomorrow we are in Falmouth, Jamaica and have an excursion booked at Dolphin Cove.
