Oasis of the Seas Day #6 | Falmouth, Jamaica

It is Day 6, and it is time to make a stop in Falmouth, Jamaica!  We do have a Dolphin Encounter excursion booked today at Dolphin Cove!

BREAKFAST

We decided to go with a quick grab-and-go option today as we had to be down in Studio B to meet up with our excursion group at 9:30am.  Leah decided to head down to Park Cafe and grab some breakfast sandwiches, fruit, donuts, and coffee.  She brought it back to the room, and we enjoyed breakfast on our balcony overlooking Jamaica.

PLANS FOR THE DAY

We booked an excursion at Dolphin Cove today, The Dolphin Encounter.  This is where we get to touch, kiss, hug, and dance with the dolphin.  Royal Caribbean had some excursion groups meet in Studio B in the morning.  They then dismissed us by our group to the gangway.  Once off the ship, we made our way to the shuttles.  We were greeted by some staff from Dolphin Cove and put on a shuttle.  During our shuttle ride to Dolphin Cove, we learned some Jamaican History and enjoyed the scenery.  We were also asked if we wanted to upgrade our tickets to the Dolphin Swim, which would provide us the opportunity to have the Dolphin Swim.  This is where the dolphins would give you a foot push or dorsal pull across the water.  Maddie and Kenzie really wanted to do it, so we upgraded their tickets.

Once we arrived at Dolphin Cove, we received a brief orientation, received our lifejackets, and made our way to the water.  When it came time to get into the water, Maddie chickened out!  The rest of us enjoyed seeing the dolphins – they really are amazing creatures.  Thankfully Leah was able to take Maddie’s spot when it came time for the Dolphin Swim.

After the swim, we were able to explore more of Dolphin Cove.  They had an enclosed area that had love birds where we were able to feed them.  Judging by the picture, you can tell which one didn’t enjoy it – ha!

We will have more details about the excursion and what we liked and didn’t like in a later post.

Most of our group that we rode the shuttle with ordered lunch at Dolphin Cove, but we opted not to, as we packed some snacks for the day.  When the group was done eating, we all met up and boarded the shuttle back to the port.  The excursion took most of the day, unfortunate, and we didn’t have much time to shop at the port.  If you make a trip to Falmouth, make sure you spend some time shopping.  This is one of our favorite ports to get some shopping done and find that handmade souvenir.

We made our way back on the ship and Leah and the girls went right to the room to get ready for dinner.  I decided to run to Park Cafe for Royal’s famous Kummelweck Sandwich, which is roast beef with horseradish and spicy mustard!  Had to get at least one this cruise, and it was delicious!

I then went back to the room and got ready for dinner.  Tonight’s attire was Dress to Impress, our second formal night.

DINNER

As we said, it was Formal Night #2, which means it is Lobster Night in the MDR!

For appetizers, Leah ordered the Onion Tart, Steven ordered the Onion Tart (x2), Maddie and Amelia went with fruit, and Kenzie ordered the Caesar Salad.

Next up was the entrees.  Leah went with the Chicken Marsala, Steven ordered the Lobster, Maddie got the Grilled Cheese, Kenzie got the Steak, and Amelia stuck with the Mac and Cheese.

For dessert, Leah ordered the Strawberry Shortcake, I got the Red Velvet Cake, and the kids got Ice Cream.

Another great night of food and service.  I will say that Onion Tart is one of my favorite appetizers Royal serves!

EVENING PLANS

After dinner, we all stopped at Boleros for some Live Caribbean Music.  Maddie and Amelia enjoyed some dancing, while Leah and I enjoyed the Drink of the Day.  Today’s drink, the Blue Hawaiian.  It was a good one today!

After a while, we decided to head up to the Boardwalk for a ride on the Merry Go Round and some milkshakes from Johnny Rockets.

Our evening entertainment tonight was, Cats, which is the musical onboard the Oasis of the Seas.  On our way down to the Royal Theater, we stopped at Sorrento’s for a quick slice of pizza before the show.

Now, we have seen so many mixed reviews about Cats, so we were not sure what to expect.  We went in with an open mind, but unfortunately, we had to leave after about 20 minutes.  It was not for us.  Performers were great, but the storyline was a strange one.  Unfortunate, because we have always enjoyed the shows in the Royal Theater.

After the show, Leah, Kenzie, and Amelia decided to head to the room for some down-time, while Maddie and I went for our nightly duck hunt in Central Park.  We were in luck, as we found a couple as we walked through the park.

Tomorrow is our last Sea Day!  How can it be?!
