The Best Smoked Apple Pie Baked Beans
You read that right – Smoked Apple Pie Baked Beans! All of that smokey deliciousness with a hint of sweetness from the apple pie filling.
Ingredients:
- 2 28oz Cans of Baked Beans
- 1 18oz Bottle of Any BBQ Sauce
- 1 lb. of Pork Sausage
- 1 TBSP of Yellow Mustard
- Red Pepper
- Yellow Onion
- ¼ Cup of Brown Sugar
- Can of Apple Pie Filling
- Worcestershire Sauce (optional)
- Your Favorite BBQ Rub (I like a hickory bacon flavor for this recipe)
Directions:
- Preheat the smoker to 250 degrees. My go to pellet blend is the Competition Blend from Pit Boss, but feel free to mix it up with your preferred flavor.
- While the smoker is preheating, dice your onion and red pepper. Cook them in a pan with the pork sausage.
- Drain some of the liquid out of the baked beans and dump the beans in a foil pan.
- Add the cooked sausage, red pepper, and onion.
- Dump in your favorite BBQ sauce and add the yellow mustard.
- Add the apple pie filling. Side note – I’ve made these several times now and I prefer a smaller chunk of apple, so I chop up the apples in the pie filling before I add them to the beans.
- Add the brown sugar.
- Sprinkle a good amount of your favorite BBQ rub over the top. I prefer a hickory bacon seasoning.
- Mix it all together and put on the smoker for about 2 hours.
These are our favorite baked beans and sure to be a hit at every backyard party.
